Divas can have fun and help others
6 June 2008
We had so much fun at our inaugural Diva Night at The Clay Studio and raised funds for charity that we have decided to do it again. Diva Night will now take place at roughly three-monthly intervals and always with a charity beneficiary. For our next event on 17 July 2008 we will be having fun and raising funds for the Dorset children’s hospice Julia’s House.
Julia’s House is Dorset’s children’s hospice and cares for children who are seriously ill and unlikely to live beyond the age of 18. There are around 200 life-limited and life-threatened children across the county. Their conditions include muscular dystrophy, severe cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy, and brain tumours.
The charity has 50 nurses and carers who visit the child at the family home on a regular basis, looking after their every need. The child can also visit Julia’s House in Corfe Mullen on a regular basis throughout their lives, where they can enjoy a wide array of toys, arts and crafts, specialist equipment and multi-sensory therapies in a homely and fun environment.
Julia’s House is a free service for families in Dorset and is reliant upon charitable giving for 97 per cent of its funds. The more funds the charity raises, the more care it can provide and the more families it can reach.
Tickets for Diva Night at The Clay Studio are available for £20 in advance only. The ticket price includes a £10 bisque pottery credit, Studio Fee, paints, glazing & firing, raffle entry and free chocolate fountain. The Clay Studio will make a £5 donation to Julia’s House for every ticket sold.
The Clay Studio is a contemporary pottery painting studio, offering visitors the opportunity to paint their own pottery and learn different painting and decorative effects through the Painting Academy and by having trained staff always on-hand. Alongside the painting is The Clay Studio Café which offers snacks and beverages, sourced, wherever possible, from local Dorset and Hampshire producers.
